Silloway Maple is a family owned and operated maple sugaring business in Randolph Center, Vermont. Located conveniently off Exit 4 on I89, they give year round tours of their maple sugar house, and have a well-stocked supply of maple products, all made right on the farm.
Paul Silloway began the sugaring business , in addition to his dairy, in the 1940s, gathering the sap with his team of workhorses. Many changes in technology have been made over the years, but the same award winning maple syrup is still produced.
The sugarhouse is unique, as all-renewable resources are used, with 70 solar panels on the roof, and traditional wood fire. A reverse osmosis machine is used, which removes part of the water before boiling, reducing fuel and labor. There is a second story viewing platform to stand on in the steam and watch the boiling and drawing off of hot syrup during actual boiling times.
Please call 802-272-6249 or 802-249-0504, and we'll meet you at the sugarhouse! During sugaring season, mid-February through mid-April, you can check our facebook page for up to date boiling times. Also visit Bettes' blog or our recipee page for inspiration.
