Equestrian Resources

The vigor and quality of Vermont’s equestrian community is one of its best kept secrets. The Morgan Horse, developed in Vermont, is the Vermont State Animal, and is still a strong part of Vermont agriculture and evolving heritage. The UVM Morgan Horse Farm (www.uvm.edu/morgan) works with youth, and is a showplace for many champions in the field.

A bit of Morgan and horse trivia:
  • The University of Vermont “government” line of Morgan Horse is one of the best in the world.
  • More than 100,000 acres of Vermont land is kept open by horses.
  • The equine industry is Vermont’s 2nd largest agricultural industry.

Vermont offers both beginning and experienced riders the opportunity to stable or rent horses, enjoy ring and trail rides, see horses and riders show their best, and relax and enjoy the summer and fall scenery on horseback or in a wagon ride.
